Quote of the year:

"As an American, I am not so shocked that Obama was given the Nobel Peace Prize without any accomplishments to his name. America gave him the White House based on the same credentials." Newt Gingrich

A Tea Partier’s View

“If ever the time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in government, our country will stand in need of its experienced Patriots to prevent its ruin.”

-Samuel Adams, Leader of the Boston Tea Party, 1773

If you really want to know what the Tea Party movement represents in America, ask a Tea Partier.

April 15, 2009 – Americans from all walks of life showed up peacefully at rallies across our nation with their homemade signs, their American flags and their children to voice their worries about the future of this great nation.  Tea Partiers’ number one concern is the out-of-control government spending and crushing debt that is sending this nation down an unsustainable path of financial ruin.  We have been standing up ever since that day to fight for the principles that have made this country the most exceptional nation in the world since its founding.

We are not racist, greedy, anti-family, above-the-law, flag-burning, hate-mongering, class warfare advocates.  You will never find these qualities at a tea party rally.  As a matter of fact, we’re quite the contrary.  Here’s who we are:

We’re your neighbor who lost his job because the company was taxed and regulated to death.

We’re the veteran who went off to fight for freedom only to come home and find his family’s freedoms diminished in his own country.

We’re the older, the greatest, generation who worked hard all their lives to provide for their families and save a little for retirement only to see it disappear from their retirement accounts.

We’re the young couple with a baby on the way who worries if they’ll ever be able to afford a home, put food on the table, gas in the car and send that child to college.

We’re the cancer patient who has to seek approval for a life-saving drug from a government bureaucrat rather than from her doctor.

We’re the entrepreneur who puts his heart and soul into his business only to be envied, regulated and taxed out of existence.

We’re the single parent who’s trying to find a job in order to lift herself and her children out of poverty.  You see, government programs are keeping her there.  A job will set her free.

We’re the college graduate who wonders if he will have a lower quality of life in the future thanks to the burden of today’s spending placed on his generation’s shoulders to repay.

We’re the citizen who wants to share the blessings of his hard work in his community only to find a government who wants to redistribute it elsewhere.

We believe in freedom, a constitutionally limited government, fiscal responsibility, free markets and individual liberty.  We do not believe that government can solve our problems.  We believe that, too often, it is the problem.

These are the true, freedom-loving patriots of the Tea Party movement whom Samuel Adams, almost 250 years ago, called upon to stand up and prevent the ruin of a great nation.  Tuesday, February 7 is  your opportunity, patriots, to take up Samuel Adams’ call once again.  Attend your caucus, let your voices be heard and let freedom ring!  Remember, it’s “We the People” not “We the Government!”
